2017 Kia Sportage
In a crowded field of crossover SUVs, the 2017 Kia Sportage shines. With newly redesigned styling and a commitment to smart, thoughtful features, this easy-to-drive compact crossover is beginning to pull away from the pack.
2017 Kia Sportage
The 2017 Kia Sportage has been completely redesigned, from the outside in. Kia calls the exterior elegant and extroverted, and we agree. The exterior styling doesn't try to blend into the pack of compact crossovers on the road. Instead, a tough and rugged grille stands out, along with side contours and more prominent wheel wells, to make a statement. The effect of the new styling makes the 2017 Kia Sportage stand out and look substantial, which isn't always the case with compact crossovers in this class. We especially like the quad LED fog lights, integrated into the lower bumper in a space-age addition, and the bold detailing of the taillights.
The interior has been similarly redesigned, this time with an eye toward making the driving experience more ergonomic. It's impressive that Kia has thought this way, and you can see it in their angled console and displays, which are easier to use. As ever, we like smart cargo spaces and the 2017 Kia Sportage delivers with a dual level cargo space that includes an under floor storage compartment to stash your most important purchases. Ample room throughout means people of all shapes and sizes will feel comfortable, which is ultimately the most important part of a vehicle like the Sportage.
Thoughtful features are sprinkled throughout the 2017 Kia Sportage, but we are especially impressed by a few of them. We like the six speaker infotainment system, and we especially like the UVO eServices, available on some models, which provide a safety net for drivers. On the Sportage, you can switch between three driving styles, so you can channel your inner teenager with the Sport mode whenever the desire grabs you. We are especially impressed that a compact crossover SUV has four power outlets, a thoughtful option when many crossovers only offer 3.
Safety is one of Kia's priorities, which they emphasize from the frame up. Side impact door beams combined with front and rear crumble zones make your SUV safer in a crash, along with the front and side air bag combination that has become an industry standard. What Kia is doing is obviously working, because the 2017 Kia Sportage has a five-star safety rating. We are also loving the available safety packages, which include blind spot detection and rear cross traffic alerts, among others. These add a level of safety and confidence that you might want to invest in.
The 2017 Kia Sportage, redesigned inside and out, offers a sporty and confident compact crossover that isn't afraid to be different than its peers. Smart looking and comfortable, the Sportage combines smart features with a safety track record that will give you peace of mind as you drive.
