2018 Kia Sedona

The 2018 Kia Sedona is the unicorn of the auto market--an attractive, well-equipped minivan that combines practicality with very real style.

Why Buy the Kia Sedona?

The Kia Sedona is not as loaded with tech as the Honda Odyssey or Chrysler Pacifica, but it has everything a growing family needs with a lower, family-friendly price point. If you can do without built-in vacuums or rear-seat entertainment systems, you'll dig the Kia Sedona. The Kia minivan has attractive styling on the outside and comfortable seating for eight on the inside.

You'll be in for a smooth and safe ride with the Sedona as well. The Sedona combines a quiet cabin with the ability to smooth out the bumps in the road as well, creating a smooth ride. Also, in government crash test ratings, the Sedona earned a perfect five stars--and safety matters to minivan buyers, who are often buying for a large family. For buyers that care about technology, the Sedona is no slacker. The Kia infotainment system is intuitive and attractive, just like the rest of the Sedona. If the only reason you haven't considered a minivan is because of the look, reconsider--and take a look at the Kia Sedona.

Does the Kia Sedona have AWD?

All Kia Sedonas come with front-wheel drive. That means it's a lighter vehicle, which saves you money at the pump, even if it doesn't have the traction of an all-wheel drive vehicle. Front-wheel drive fits the needs of most people, but if you want an AWD option, consider the Kia Sorento or Sportage. You'll trade seating for traction, but you'll keep the same sporty Kia style.

How is the Kia Sedona's Reliability?

The Kia Sedona's reputation isn't headlined by long-term reliability, which can be a bit disappointing to some buyers. But Kia more than makes up for any doubts in that area with its industry-leading warranty--a five-year/60,000-mile basic and a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain. That's far better than most competitors.

Which Kia Sedona Should I Buy?

Kia offers Sedonas in five trims: L, LX, EX, SX, and Limited. The base model comes standard with Slide-N-Stow second-row seats that move and lock out of the way, 5-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, USB port, four-speaker audio system, satellite radio, and rearview camera. But we recommend getting at least the LX to pick up power-sliding rear doors as well. Honestly, we're not sure what minivan buyer wouldn't want power sliding doors--once you're carrying a car seat in one hand and a bag of groceries in the other, you'll be sold. If you want to add a hands-free power liftgate as well, take a look at the EX--or opt for the Limited if you want everything you can imagine, wrapped in Nappa leather and illuminated by a sunroof.
