2018 Kia Soul

You've seen the hamsters in the ads and the unique style on the road. But is the 2018 Kia Soul a good buy? We've got the rundown on why the 2018 Soul is a good choice for you--and whether it will last.

Why Should I Buy the 2018 Kia Soul?

The Kia Soul is a vehicle that doesn't look like anything else on the road. If you're looking for something unique, you've found it in the Soul. Kia also makes sure that the Soul is fully stocked with technology to keep you connected and make your drive easier. The Soul's UVO system includes Apple Car Play and Android Auto, which allows you to do things like access your phone apps on your car's touch screen. Keep up with your podcasts, audiobooks, playlists, and maps without picking up your phone.

A few more features make the Soul a good buy. The cab's flat top gives more head room for your back seat passengers and gives you a bigger back window for a better view. You'll also benefit from safety features that help you drive with confidence. Just a few include Autonomous Emergency Braking, a Forward Collision Warning System, Lane Departure Warnings, Blind Spot Detection, and more. When you throw in the Soul's mood lighting that responds to your music, the Soul is an awesome choice for anyone. The exception? If you need to transport more than 4 to 5 people or regularly haul a ton of large cargo.

Why is the Soul so Popular?

The answer to this question is pretty simple: the Kia Soul is unique. In a crowded crossover class, the Soul is completely different from the other cars that are on the road. The square body design and extra ground clearance give it the look of the crossover that it is, while the length makes it seem more like a hatchback. With this combination, you get the best of both worlds. You get the floor height and ease of getting in of a smaller SUV but the handling and mileage of a hatchback. The Soul's amazing options for technology and safety features, combined with its impressive handling and whimsical attitude toward driving (remember the hamsters?) create a vehicle that is fun and functional at the same time.

Is the Soul All-Wheel Drive?

Currently, no. While the Soul is considered a crossover, it does not have the option of all-wheel drive. It is likely, however, that the Soul's 3rd generation (expected in 2019) will have this feature available. But, if you are in need of a vehicle right now that has an all-wheel drive option, you'll have to look elsewhere. You might take a look at the Sorento or the Sportage.

How Does the Soul Hold Up?

JD Power and Associates ranked the 2017 Soul as among the best in Overall Quality, Overall Performance and design, and Predicted Reliability (http://www.jdpower.com/cars/Kia/Soul/2017#model_ratings). That being said, the Soul is going to last longer the better you take care of it. The Soul, like any car, will be more reliable and last longer with regularly scheduled maintenance, frequent fluid checks, and safe driving.
