2018 Kia Stinger

2018 Kia Stinger

2018 Kia Stinger

Just when you think Kia might take a break from attempting something new for the brand, here it comes with something totally new. As if a venture into the luxury realm with the K900 and an industry first plug-in hybrid only SUV (in the shape of the Niro) wasn't enough, now Kia is bringing us a stunning grand touring sports sedan: the 2018 Kia Stinger.

What Does the Kia Stinger Look Like?

The overall shape of the 2018 Kia Stinger is dynamic, sporty, and attractive without going over the top. It looks like the performance vehicle that it is, without abandoning its Kia roots. The cabin of the Stinger will be of a quality similar to the Genesis G70 that it shares a platform with. Available Nappa leather can cover the deeply contoured seats, and the driver's seat will even go as far as offering available air-cell bladders in the seatback and bolsters for the ultimate in support and comfort. The dash and display are ultra-modern and extremely sporty, but are still as user-friendly as you'd hope. Take a look for yourself with a video tour of the exterior and interior, courtesy of Consumer Reports.

How Does the Kia Stinger Perform?

Motor Trend tests clock the 2018 Stinger at 0 to 60 in 4.8 seconds and the quarter mile in 13.3 seconds--at 106 miles an hour. This is NOT the Kia you're imagining--all practicality. The Stinger is a legit sports sedan, taking aim at manufacturers like Lexus, BMW, Audi, and even Porsche.

On all kinds of surfaces--racetracks or mountain roads or anything in between--the Stinger performs with confidence and control. You can opt for the Kia Stinger with a base 2.0-liter turbo-four base engine producing 255 horsepower or the hefty 3.3-liter V-6 version that puts a serious 365 horsepower at your disposal. An eight-speed automatic transmission will be standard with both engines--with a choice of rear or all-wheel drive, in true GT style.

How Much Will the Kia Stinger Cost?

You might expect an impressively shocking price tag for a performance-focused vehicle like this, but the reality is that the Kia Stinger will start at around $32,000 and head to a pricetag north of $50K for the fully loaded, tricked out version that you probably want to drive. In fact, the Stinger's pricetag undercuts its primary competitor--the Audi A5 Sportback--by nearly five figures.
