JD Power IQS Kia Ranks Number 1 for the 4th Year

In its annual U.S. Initial Quality Study, J.D. Power has once again named Kia the top non-luxury automaker for new-vehicle quality. Kia has earned this honor for four years in a row.

Kia Leads the Way

J.D. Power's Initial Quality Study looks at the number of issues experienced per 100 vehicles during the first 90 days of ownership, in an effort to measure overall dependability. The study came to two important conclusions. One, new-vehicle quality is at an all-time high. And two, Kia is once again the top non-luxury brand in the business, in spite of this competitive climate. Among the top-ranking Kia vehicles are the thrifty subcompact Kia Rio and the family-friendly Kia Sorento crossover, each of which leads its respective segment with fewest new-vehicle issues.

Repeat Performance

This year, Kia is the number one non-luxury automaker with fewest problems per 100 vehicles. However, this isn't Kia's first time at the top of the JD Power study. This new study marks the fourth consecutive year that Kia has come out on top. Last year, Kia surpassed even luxury brands as the most dependable automaker in the business. This year, the number of reported problems is unchanged, and only the luxury brand Genesis managed fewer new-vehicle problems.

High-Quality Ride

What does all of this mean to you? The J.D. Power Initial Quality Study is designed to help consumers avoid spending thousands of dollars on a lemon. This study considers problems not just with powertrains, but also safety technology and audio and entertainment gear.

These days, with new-vehicle quality at all-time highs, the competition is stiff. Kia's status as a premium automaker - for the fourth year running - lets buyers know that they can count on the brand for dependable performance, inside and out.
