Oktoberfest Beer mugs cheering

Here at Allentown Kia, we are more than your favorite Kia dealership in eastern Pennsylvania; we are a part of this great community. All of us enjoy getting out and being a part of this gorgeous region with so many concerts and local events to participate in throughout the year. Few get us as excited, however, as the local Oktoberfest celebration held in nearby Bethlehem each year. Now in its ninth year, Oktoberfest 2019 looks to be the biggest and best celebration of German beer and food around.

Presented by Lehigh Valley International Airport, Oktoberfest 2019 is free of charge, though you will want to bring your wallet to enjoy all the food and drinks on offer. There will be lots of different events held over two weekends, so no matter what your schedule looks like, you should be able to attend. In particular, we are especially excited for the dachshund races and the Yuengling Oktoberfest 5k, which is available to anyone ages 8 and older.

Community is incredibly important to all of us here at Allentown Kia. We’re not some car megastore looking to draw in people from three states away and never get to know our customers. The people that come to us are our friends and neighbors, and we not only care about giving back to the community but also being a part of it. We hope to meet more of our neighbors at Oktoberfest 2019.

German Food and Beer

Half the fun, at least, of going to Oktoberfest is the food and beverages – Oktoberfest 2019 in Bethlehem, PA looks to be no exception. Bratwurst and sauerkraut are going to be the star of the show, of course, but all sorts of other fantastic German dishes and foodstuffs will be available. Whether you prefer schnitzel or sausage, there will be delicious treats to enjoy and discover, so make sure you come hungry.

What is Oktoberfest without beer? After all, its roots in German culture and celebration are steeped in enjoying a tall mug or stein of brew with friends and loved ones. Fortunately, there will be no shortage of beer on offer at Oktoberfest 2019. Whether you are looking for a pilsner, an ale, a hoppy and bitter IPA, or a dark chocolatey stout, you will be able to find the perfect refreshment from one of the many vendors at the event.

With so much delicious beer to choose from, however, please remember to enjoy them responsibly. Always drink in moderation and be mindful of other people enjoying the event, especially families with children that also want to have fun and experience the joy of Oktoberfest. As a Kia dealership, we also remind you to never get behind the wheel of a car while intoxicated. With moderation and responsibility, everyone can enjoy Oktoberfest together this year and for many years to come.

Events and Fun for the Whole Family

Oktoberfest bratwurst and sauerkraut

Oktoberfest 2019 here in eastern Pennsylvania isn’t just about food and drinks, however enjoyable those may be, but also a number of different events and activities. Whether you want to simply watch others participate or you are looking to get in on the fun yourself, these events are open to anyone interested in them. These include the Beer-Lympics competition centered on all kinds of different challenges, like stein-hoisting competitions, as well as live music and entertainment.

There will be dachshund races for all you dog-lovers out there, and who doesn’t enjoy watching them waddle and wiggle their way along a track? Local vendors and artists will have their creations and goods on offer too, so you can find all sorts of different collectible items and unique merchandise available if you are interested in doing some shopping. If you are interested in getting some good exercise in before indulging in rich foods, plump bratwurst, and refreshing beers, then consider…

The Yuengling Oktoberfest 5k

This will be the sixth year of the 5k run/walk event presented by Yuengling at Oktoberfest 2019. Various German-themed elements and numerous surprises will be presented all along the course, which starts and ends at First St. and Founders Way, in front of the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks. This includes German music and even a troop of German dancers entertaining the runners as they make their way along the picturesque course.

While entry to Oktoberfest 2019 is completely free of charge, there is a fee to participate in the Yuengling 5k, whether you want to run or walk it. Advance entry is available right now for $50, or $45 for ArtsQuest members in the area. If you wait until the day of the race, then the entry will be $60 with no discount provided for ArtsQuest members. With this price, however, you not only get entry to the Yuengling Oktoberfest 5k but also an official t-shirt and a mug of Yuengling Oktoberfest beer or root beer waiting for you at the end of the race.

Although Oktoberfest 2019 is being held on two different weekends, the 5k will happen on Sunday, October 6th. The 5k kicks off at 10:30 am so make sure you are there early and get warmed up for the run. Anyone age 8 and older can enter, though children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. The race makes it a great way to get some exercise, have fun with friends and family, and be a part of Oktoberfest 2019 in a way that many other people miss out on.
